This is a genuine Taiwanese made Align brand AL500X power feed suitable for Bridgeport "Series 1" turret milling machines. The "X" denotes it is designed to fit the X axis. It provides adjustable feeds and rapids for cutting and positioning. The kit includes the drive unit, replacement end plate for the table (to mount the drive), prewired limit switch assembly (to prevent overshooting the ends of travel) and a selection of shims for adjusting the backlash for the bevel drive gears. There's no modification required to the machine other than swapping the parts over.
I bought this 10 years ago for my Taiwanese Bridgeport clone, then shortly afterwards I changed the X and Y leadscrews for ballscrews and converted the machine to CNC. The unit has been sitting on my shelf ever since. Consequently, this unit has had very few hours and is almost as new. For manual machining, these save the need for a lot of careful hand feeding and the consistent and adjustable feedrate helps with surface finish.
Note that this unit is powered from 120Vac, as none of these power feeds were made in 240V. A small transformer of 100-200VA is almost certainly adequate, although I can't see a spec anywhere.
