Centec2

Centec2

Hello , newbie here to the milling world . Last year I bought myself an 75yr old Fortis lathe and since then I've been looking for an equally old mill ,well I eventually found one and an absolute bargain to boot ..... the Centec 2 is now sitting in my shed totally stripped down and i have to say this thing is like new no wear what's so ever. I have also stripped all the paint also .

Once I get it painted I'll need to suss out what tooling I need and where to find it any help would be appreciated. I'm presently looking for a motor which is proving difficult to say tge least . Anyways I look forward to maybe making some friends and sharing my learning experience getting the Centec2 up and running .

Re: Centec2

I have had two Centec’s over the years and still use my current one, they are a very solid well built machines, if you have the vertical head you will need a raising block , they come to light on ebay from time to time. I made mine from 150mm x 100mm rectangular steel tube bolting on V slideways.
If you are looking for a motor I recommend you go for a 3 phase VFD controlled package there is a chap named Osman who sells same on this site ( no connection )
Cheers
Mike
